There is nothing better than homemade bread. Your family will come running to the table for a slice of this Country Bread.

Ahh the smell of freshly baked bread, there is nothing so incredible and that first bite is unbelievable. Slather it with creamy salted butter. Now that is my heaven.

This recipe makes 3 loaves. It makes the best toast. My kids love toast and can eat a whole loaf in a day. But if you want to freeze it, wait until it is completely cool before wrapping with saran and foil.

This Country bread bakes up deliciously golden brown. It is a simple and outstanding bread.

In a large bowl, mix together 4 cups flour, 1 ½ tbsp yeast, and 2 tbsp sugar.  

In a second large bowl, pour 4 cups of milk and 2 tbsp butter.  

Put the butter/milk in the microwave and warm in 45-second intervals until the butter has melted.  

Pour the milk and butter mixture into the flour mixture.  

Add 1 cup of bread flour at a time, mixing between each.  

Knead the bread for 8-10 minutes until nice and elastic.

Spread a small amount of oil in a bowl and put the dough in the bowl.  

Cover and let rise for about an hour or until it has doubled.

  • 1 ½ tbsp salt

Instructions

  4. Stir together.
  5. Pour the milk and butter mixture into the flour mixture.  
  6. Mix well.
  7. Add 1 cup of bread flour at a time, mixing between each.  
  8. Knead the bread for 8-10 minutes until nice and elastic.
  9. Spread a small amount of oil in a bowl and put the dough in the bowl.  
  10. Cover and let rise for about an hour or until it has doubled.
  11. Punch down the dough, and divide into 3 loaf pans.  
  12. Cover and let rise again, for about an hour.
  13. Bake at 375 for 35 minutes until golden brown.
  14. The bread will sound hollow when it is done.  
  15. Allow it to cool before cutting.
