I love making treats for my kids for Halloween. My kids squealed with joy when they saw how adorable these Halloween Spider Cookies are. I should have doubled the recipe because they scattered away quickly, just like spiders! What you will need to make these fun and yummy cookies!

Dixie Crystals Granulated and Powdered Sugar, Peanut Butter, brown sugar, egg, shortening, vanilla, flour, baking soda, salt, mini Peanut Butter cups, candy eyes, unsweetened cocoa powder,cream.Halloween Spider CookiesCream Dixie Crystals granulated sugar, shortening, peanut butter, egg, brown sugar, vanilla and milk in a big bowl.Halloween Spider Cookies

Halloween Spider CookiesIn another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt.

Add dry mixture to wet mixture. Form into small balls.Halloween Spider CookiesRoll dough balls in sugar. Place a couple inches apart on parchment paper-lined baking sheet.Halloween Spider Cookies

Chocolate Peanut Butter Halloween Spider Cookies. A yummy peanut butter cookie with a chocolate peanut butter cup face and chocolate legs. This cookie will be a hit at your Halloween Party!

Ingredients

  • For cookies:
  • 1/2 cup Dixie Crystals granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup Shortening
  • 1/2 cup Peanut Butter
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 3/4 cup Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup Dixie Crystals granulated Sugar (For rolling)
  • 48 miniature Reese’s cups, unwrapped and frozen
  • 96 Candy Eyes
  • For legs:
  • 1 1/2 cups Dixie Crystals Powdered Sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 TBS cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a large bowl, beat together shortening, peanut butter, egg, Dixie Crystals sugar, brown sugar, vanilla and milk.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt.
  4. Gradually add dry mixture to wet mixture and beat until blended.
  5. Form into 1″ balls.
  6. Roll in Dixie Crystals sugar and place a couple of inches apart on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden.
  8. Make legs:
  9. Beat butter until smooth with a stand mixer or handheld mixer. Add Dixie Crystals Powdered Sugar and cocoa powder, beat to combine. Add cream, beat for a minute. Add more cream to adjust the consistency.
  10. Place frosting in a baggie, cut a small hole, using a small pastry tip, pipe 8 legs on each cookie. Place in refrigerator to let set.
  11. Immediately, gently press an upside down frozen peanut butter cup on top of each cookie and move to wire rack to cool.
  12. After placing and moving all of the cookies on the wire rack. put in place the candy eyes while chocolate is still slightly soft.
  13. Place in refrigerator for 10 minutes to allow cookies to firm.
