King Cake Rum Shake

Celebrating all things King Cake for Mardi Gras with this delicious Rum Shake. We are having a pre- Mardi Gras celebration with a fabulously flavored Rum Shake cocktail.

After spending a week in New Orleans a couple weeks ago, I was inspired to make a delicious libation combining two Mardi Gras traditions into one glass: king cake and rum.

This bevvy, or alcoholic beverage, is essentially a rum-vanilla milkshake. Cinnamon, almond, orange, and creamy vanilla are the main flavors, inspired by king cakes, or a ring-shaped cake eaten during Mardi Gras that is covered in white glaze and garnished with purple, yellow, and green sprinkles. Can you see the resemblance in this cocktail?

Festive, boozy Mardi Gras Shakes are a great on-the-go option for getting in your party mood while watching the parades roll by.

It’s that time of year! It’s Mardi Gras time!

Even if you don’t live in a city with Mardi Gras, you can still celebrate with these festive shakes!

I know, I know. It’s just a shake. But let’s talk about why you need to make this shake.

This shake is the answer to your “what to drink/eat while strolling the streets catching beads” question.

Put down that hurricane and step away from the margarita. We’ve just replaced those with a new, more delicious Mardi Gras libation. Grab a big jar of this king cake boozy milkshake for a luscious dessert and cocktail all in one!

Each sip tastes like your favorite king cake, just without all the work it takes to make one. They may taste innocent, but these shakes are strong. If you wake up on Bourbon Street with a ton of beads and a brain freeze, I can’t be to blame.

Place rum and ice cream in a blender.

Blend and pour into glass.

If too thick add more rum.

Add purple food dye to sugar. Wet the glass with rum. Dip glass into purple sugar.

Once in glass feed a straw through the beignet and set in the glass.

Add umbrella and straw.
