What’s the difference between English Muffin Bread and Regular Bread?

English Muffin Bread is so simple to make, it will be your favorite recipe for years to come! The steps are so simple to follow, it’s not necessary to knead this bread at all, it’s a very uncomplicated recipe.

You can stir the ingredients for this bread in a Stand Up Mixer, then let the dough rise, pour it into loaf pans, one more rise, then put it in the oven to bake. Easy peasy!

Can a beginner baker make this bread?

Absolutely! I highly recommend this recipe for starting off your bread baking experience. You will absolutely love how simple and delicious this recipe is.

Should I proof the yeast before using it to bake this bread?

Definitely. Proofing is a must when baking just to make sure that the yeast is alive and that the bread will rise.

How do I proof yeast?

It’s very simple, just dissolve the contents of the yeast packet in a 1/4 cup of warm water with 1 teaspoon of sugar. After 10 minutes, you will find that the mixture looks bubbly.

5 Easy Ingredients: Flour, Sugar, Salt, Rapid Rise Yeast and Water!
Place all ingredients in a Kitchen Aid and mix until just blended.
Just takes about a minute, don’t overbeat.
Looks perfect, make sure to get every drop of this gorgeous dough!
The dough is super sticky!
Grease two Loaf Pans
I told you this was sticky and did I mean it!!
Divide dough into 2 Loaf Pans ( 9″x5″). Cover and place over your oven or a warm spot and let dough rise to the top, it doubles in size!
After an hour it has risen!! So excited, I really can’t tell you!!
Bread Dough is ready to go in the oven.
10 minutes before bread is done ( Golden Brown) Brush Melted Butter over the top.
Your Bread should look like this, Golden Brown.
I think I have more pictures of my very first bread baked from scratch than my kids…just kidding kids….. kidding kids…hahaha
Let bread cool completely before cutting, it was torturing my son to wait until the bread was completely cool, but believe me, it is worth the wait!!
If you can’t wait, just take a picture of your bread like I did!
Doesn’t it look gorgeous? I know, just keep waiting for it to cool, go get a fun magazine to take your mind off of the amazing aroma….
English Muffin Bread on a cooling rack ready to be sliced

Is it okay to slice this bread out of the oven?

No, wait until the bread comes to room temperature. Most of the bread recipes that I have made in the past slice up easily. This bread gets better as it cools and needs some time before slicing.

It has a wonderful texture and needs to continue the process while it cools on the cooling rack.

This is the easiest, most delicious bread! Only need 5 ingredients! Makes the best toast! No Bread Maker is Needed!

Cook Time: 45 minutes
Total Time: 45 minutes

This English Muffin Bread is the best recipe for beginner bakers who want to make a simple, yet delicious yeasty bread. With only five ingredients needed, you won’t believe how incredible this tasty bread is right out of the oven and toasted.

Ingredients

  • 2¾ cups warm water
  • 1½ packages RAPID RISE Yeast (1 packet= .25 oz)
  • 1 Tablespoon salt
  • 1½ Tablespoons sugar
  • 5½ cups All Purpose Flour
  • Melted butter for brushing

Instructions

  1. Mix all of the ingredients in Kitchen Aid, then spoon into 2 well-greased loaf pans ( 9″x5″).
  2. Cover with a towel, let rise in pans until dough reaches the top of the pans, and bake in a 350-degree oven for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
  3. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t get too brown. You are looking for a golden brown color.
  4. Minutes before done, brush with melted butter. Makes 2 loaves.
  5. Bread will be moist at first.
  6. I know it is difficult, but let the bread cool completely before cutting.

Notes

Spray Pam on your hands so that the bread dough doesn't stick to your hands.

You can use a regular mixer, but it will be a challenge, this dough is super dense and sticky.

1½ packages RAPID RISE Yeast (1 packet= .25 oz)

I have made bread dough in my bread maker before and then baked it in the oven. May try this method. Does the bread freeze well?

Nettie

Hi Michelle,

This bread does freeze well. Make sure it is completely cool, you can slice or leave whole. I wrap it well with saran wrap, then foil, then place in a zip lock bag, make sure all of the air is out of the bag.
