Honey Bun Cake is like a cinnamon roll but in cake form. Soft, moist cake, with a cinnamon and brown sugar streusel and a light vanilla glaze.
Ingredients
- 1 (15.25 oz.) box yellow cake mix
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- ¾ cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- ⅓ cup chopped pecans
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- Glaze:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1-2 Tablespoons milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
- Grease a 13×9-inch pan.
- Combine cake mix, eggs, sour cream, and oil in a large bowl and whisk together until well blended; set aside.
- Combine brown sugar, pecans, and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
- Spread half of the cake batter into the prepared pan.
- Sprinkle with half of the brown sugar, pecans, and cinnamon, covering the entire cake. Spread the rest of the cake batter over the layer and top with the remaining sugar and cinnamon. Use a knife and swirl the batter.
- Bake for around 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- To Make the glaze: Combine powdered sugar, one Tablespoon of milk, and vanilla and stir until smooth. If too thick, add a little more milk.
- Pour glaze over the hot cake after you take it out of the oven. Let set. Serve warm or at room temperature.
