What are Jalapenos?
Jalapeño peppers are green medium-sized chile peppers with a mild to moderate amount of heat, that can be used in so many different types of foods as a delicious salsa to a comforting chili to a zesty salad dressing. The jalapenos can be traced all the way to Veracruz, and the name jalapeño comes from Xalapa, which is the capital city. This popular pepper is grown worldwide and appears in cuisine from all over including Africa to Asia to the American South.
The best part about this flavorful dip is not only is it delicious, but it is also keto/low carb.
What does a jalapeno taste like?
Jalapeño peppers taste a lot like the serrano pepper, just with a lot less heat. The flavor is very bright, and very green, with a slight level of heat. When roasting jalapenos peppers, you will find a richer, slightly smoky, and earthy flavor with a nice heat.
Remove the seeds from the jalapeno’s so that this dip recipe isn’t very spicy, it’s just flavorful! Seriously drool-worthy! Because, you know, everything is better with bacon!
Are jalapenos healthy?
Jalapeños are healthy and very rich in vitamins A, C, and potassium. The great thing is that they also have carotene which is an antioxidant that helps fight damage to our cells and it also has folate, vitamin K, and B vitamins. The health benefits come from a compound called capsaicin. This is what makes peppers spicy.
Serve with your favorite veggies or low-carb crackers or bread.
