Creamy and delicious, this Grinch White Hot Chocolate recipe is a festive way to kick off the season. Cradle a cup of this warm and cozy green beverage while you watch your favorite Christmas movies.

This is the perfect hot chocolate to make when you’re ready to enjoy a holiday movie night watching the classic Dr. Seuss “How The Grinch Stole Christmas.” Kids, as well as adults, love this tasty chocolate drink that’s easy to make, right on your stovetop. Milk, cream, sweetened condensed milk, and white chocolate chips are all you need to make this fun and colorful drink.

Oh, and a little green food coloring along with whipped cream and marshmallows are the perfect ways to showcase the garnish of a jumbo red heart sprinkle that defines this Grinch White Hot Chocolate.
From colors to flavors to garnishes, this recipe is the perfect base for white hot chocolate that you can customize to fit any holiday occasion once the Christmas season is over!

Ingredients Needed
Milk – I use 2% but any will work.
Heavy Whipping Cream – Don’t substitute with half and half! You definitely want the heavy cream to keep it thick and creamy.
Sweetened Condensed Milk – This becomes the sweetener in place of granulated sugar.
White Chocolate Chips – Use your favorite brand.
Green Gel Food Coloring – You’ll use just a little to reach the perfect Grinch (and appetizing!) green shade.
Whipped Cream or Miniature Marshmallows – For the toppings. I like to use both!
Jumbo Heart Sprinkles – It’s the perfect addition that makes this white hot chocolate Grinch-worthy.

How To Make Grinch White Hot Chocolate
STEP 1: Add the milk, heavy whipping cream, and sweetened condensed milk to a large saucepan or pot. Heat over medium-low heat until hot. Stir to make sure it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pot.
STEP 2: Reduce the heat and stir in white chocolate chips and 1/4 teaspoon of green gel food coloring. Continue to stir until the chips have melted.
STEP 3: Remove from the heat and pour into your mugs. Top with whipped cream or miniature marshmallows and a jumbo heart sprinkle.
Pro Tip
My best tip for making this delicious beverage is to not boil the hot chocolate. It will curdle the milk, cream, and chocolate. You want to heat it over medium-low heat and make sure you’re stirring so it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pot. Just a little patience will give you the smoothest and creamiest white hot chocolate!

Variations
Food Coloring And Themes
- Pink – Perfect for Valentine’s Day, the tiniest bit of pink or red food coloring will make this hot chocolate a sweet shade. Pink and red heart sprinkles are the perfect topping.
- White – Keep it a snowy white for a Winter Wonderland theme. On top of the marshmallows or whipped cream, edible pearl sprinkles in white and silver keep it glistening and on point for a wintery beverage.
- Blue – Create a Disney’s Frozen theme by adding a touch of blue food coloring to the white hot chocolate. Snowflake sprinkles in white, silver, and blue keep the theme going on top of a mound of snowy whipped cream.
- Green – Keep it green for St. Patrick’s Day. Just swap out the garnishes and use green and gold sprinkles with shamrocks on top.

Flavors
If you want to add extract for flavor, add them after you’ve pulled the hot chocolate off of the burner. Start small, stir and taste before adding more to reach your desired flavor.
- Add vanilla extract for that cozy and familiar flavor.
- Add peppermint extract for a refreshing zing of holiday flavor.
- Add almond extract for a little nutty taste.

How To Make A Big Batch For Parties
If you’re having a party and want to have enough of this Grinch White Hot Chocolate on hand so your friends, family, and/or guests can serve themselves, just double or triple the amount and heat it on the stovetop. Make sure your saucepan or pot is large enough to accommodate the liquids.
Then, transfer it all to a slow cooker, and set it to warm. It will keep beautifully and your guests can serve themselves. Have your whipped cream, marshmallows, and sprinkles available so they can add their own toppings.

What To Serve With Grinch White Hot Chocolate
If you’re doing a Grinch theme, be sure and make my Grinch Bites to pair with the hot chocolate. Made with pretzels and candy coating, they’re an easy no-bake treat that everyone will love to munch on.
Make these no-bake Grinch Oreo truffles balls that are dipped in green candy coating and decorated with red hearts for a sweet bite of Grinch-themed goodness.
Storage
If you have leftover white hot chocolate, make sure it’s cooled before storing it in an airtight container in the fridge. It will last for 3-4 days. Reheat it on the stovetop on low, stirring, until warm.
