What Is a Slow Cooker Dump Cake?
A slow cooker dump cake is very similar to a cobbler but a dump cake has a cake top. It’s named this because the fruit is poured into a slow cooker followed by a cake mix and slices of butter and whatever other toppings are in the recipe. There is no mixing needed at all.

It doesn’t look so pretty, hence the name dump cake, but it tastes amazing. The whole cake was devoured in seconds and everyone was asking for the recipe.
It’s the perfect recipe for a potluck or holiday dessert, you just set it and forget it, until you smell the incredible wafts coming from your kitchen.

How to make Crockpot Apple Dump Cake:
Dump out one 20-ounce can of apple pie filling into the slow cooker.

On top of the apples, pour out one bag of yellow cake mix.

Pour ½ cup (1 stick) of melted butter on top of the cake mix. (DO NOT MIX INGREDIENTS TOGETHER! Just keep layering them!)

Sprinkle ¼ cup cinnamon sugar over the butter.

Add ½ cup salted caramel chips on top.

Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 3 ½ – 4 hours or on high for 2 hours.

Don’t Open The Lid Until The Cake is Done
Every time you remove the lid, the slow cooker loses its heat, plus it takes a while to heat back up. There’s no need to remove the lid. And if you do open the lid, keep it as brief as possible and maybe tack on a minute or two of extra cooking time.

Topping ideas for Slow Cooker caramel apple dump cake:
- Vanilla ice cream
- Try different ice cream flavors. Butter Pecan is a favorite.

How do you make cinnamon-sugar….what are the proportions of cinnamon and sugar to mix together to make 1/4 cup?

Hi Lois, The standard cinnamon sugar ratio that is 1 to 4 (1:4). This would be equal of ¼ cup of ground cinnamon to 1 cup of granulated sugar or 1 tablespoon of cinnamon to ¼ cup of sugar. There is a personal preference when making cinnamon sugar. Everyone's ratio for spice is different, so you have to find out what you like best. My favorite ratio is to use less spice with more sugar. I use a ratio of 1:8. This is sweet with a definite, but not overwhelming cinnamon addition. In my opinion, this is the best ratio of cinnamon to sugar. So, for a 1/4 cup mixture, you will need to scale down the recipe for a smaller batch. Use ¼ cup sugar with 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon. You can play around with this ratio to see what "spiciness" that you prefer.
