This is what you need to make this yummy roast: 3-pound chuck roast, Olive oil, 1 packet Ranch Dressing Mix, 1 packet Au Jus mix, pepperoncini peppers, and butter.
In a hot skillet, add olive oil.
Season the beef roast with pepper and sear in a hot skillet for a couple of minutes. NOTE: Readers have asked if it is important to sear the roast first before placing it in a slow cooker. It isn’t necessary, but if you have a couple of extra minutes, I think it adds a lot more flavor to the roast.
Turn the roast over after a couple of minutes. Sear the other side. Look at how brown and delicious that sear is, it really adds to the flavor.
Take out 8 peppers from the jar. Place them in the slow cooker. These peppers are not spicy, but they add a lot of flavors.
