STEP 5: Before slicing and serving, decorate the top with Reddi-whip whipped cream around the edges, or use an additional cool whip instead, and top, decoratively, with maraschino cherries and chocolate chips.
What Are Maraschino Cherries?
The commercial Maraschino cherries that you purchase in a small glass jar at the store are cherries that have been preserved in sweet syrup and dyed a bright red color. They’re commonly used as a garnish in cocktails, like in my Pirates Last Call drink, or my Schnapps Soaked Cherry Bombs. They’re also a great garnish for milkshakes, banana splits, and desserts, like my No-Bake Banana Split Cake as well as baked goods, like my Cherry Garcia Cookies. Here, we incorporate them into a delicious cherry fluff no-bake chilled pie!
Variations
- Crust: swap out the prepared graham cracker crust for a prepared chocolate cookie crust.
- Fruit: swap out the cherry pie filling for blueberry pie filling and fresh blueberries for the garnish on top. Omit the chocolate chips if you like.
Add-ins
If you want to add even more deliciousness, add any of the following to the filling:
- crushed pineapple (drained from the can)
- chopped walnuts
- mini marshmallows
Topping Tips For Using Cool Whip or Reddi-Whip
- If topping the pie with Cool Whip, you’ll need to buy the 12 or 16-ounce carton, use 8 ounces in the pie, and place the remainder of the Cool Whip back in the freezer until time for use for the topping
- If you’re buying the 12-ounce carton, you would use 3/4 of the carton in the pie, and save 1/4 in the freezer. If you’re buying the 16-ounce carton, you would use half of the carton in the pie, and save the remainder, or the other half back into the freezer until time to serve the pie.
- You can purchase a can of Reddi-whip whipped cream and use that instead of Cool Whip to top the pie for serving.
Tips For Serving This Pie
Even though you’ve chilled the pie, once you take it out of the fridge and set it on a table to decorate, slice, and serve, it’s going to start to “thaw” from sitting out at room temperature. I would slice and serve it and place it back in the fridge within 30 minutes to preserve the texture of any leftovers.
Tips for Making Cherry Chip Fluff Pie:
- Cream Cheese Consistency: Ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for a smooth and lump-free filling.
- Chilling Time: Allow the pie to chill for at least 4 hours or overnight. This not only helps the filling set but also enhances the flavors, creating a more cohesive and delightful dessert.
- Limited Room Temperature Exposure: While it’s safe to display the pie at room temperature during serving, prolonged exposure can lead to softening of the filling. Keep it at room temperature for no more than 2 hours.
- Freezing Considerations: Cream-based pies like this one may not freeze well due to potential texture changes. If you need to prepare in advance, it’s often best to freeze the unfilled crust and add the filling before serving.
- Freshness Reminder: For the best flavor and texture, consume the pie within 2-3 days. The crust may start to soften over time, so enjoy it while it’s at its freshest.
By following these tips and storage guidelines, you’ll ensure that your Cherry Chip Fluff Pie remains a delightful and creamy treat from the first slice to the last.
Is This Pie Freezer Friendly?
Due to texture considerations, I would not freeze this pie. It’s best made the night before and kept in the fridge until ready to serve.
Storage
Store leftovers, covered, in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.

- 1 carton of Cool Whip - 8 ounces (plus more for topping)
- 1 1/2 cups of mini chocolate chips - divided - see instructions
- 1 small jar of Maraschino Cherries - topping
- 1 can of Reddi-whip Whipped Cream - topping
Instructions

5. To serve, cut in 2 to 3-inch pieces, garnish with Reddi-whip whipped cream, or additional Cool Whip, and top with a Maraschino Cherry. Enjoy!
Notes
NOTE: If topping pie slices with Cool Whip, you'll need to buy the 12 or 16-ounce carton, place 8 ounces in the pie, and place the remainder of the Cool Whip back in the freezer until time for use. If you're buying the 12-ounce carton, you would use 3/4 of the carton in the pie, and save 1/4 in the freezer. If you're buying the 16-ounce carton, you would use half of the carton in the pie, and save the remainder, or the other half back into the freezer until time to serve the pie. ALSO: You can also purchase a can of Reddi-whip whipped cream and use that instead of Cool Whip to top the pie for serving. Reddi-whip is found in the Dairy section of your local grocery store.
